Independence Day is a summer highlight and Carr’s Cottages hopes you can plan to make time for celebrating your family and our freedom this July in the Smoky Mountains! Gatlinburg is a popular family vacation destination for a countless number of reasons, but it’s definitely THEE place to be for the 4th of July. Why?

The Gatlinburg Midnight Parade
Gatlinburg is famous for holding the first 4th of July parade in the nation as it kicks off promptly at 12:01 a.m. (Or let’s say 11:59 p.m. on July 3rd just so you don’t miss it!) Downtown Gatlinburg welcomes thousands of visitors to the parade each year, all who gather along the strip for a grand celebration. Arrive early and choose your spot or set out a chair to take in the 43rd Annual Midnight Parade!

The 4th of July Midnight Parade starts at traffic light #1a on East Parkway, turns onto the strip at traffic light #3 and extends all the way through town to traffic light #10 at Ski Mountain Road. That’s more than a mile of entertainment, marching bands and military tributes!

Following the popular and free River Raft Regatta and free concerts downtown, is a fireworks display that lights up the night! Beginning at 10 p.m., Gatlinburg puts on a fantastic 20-minute 4th of July fire works show that is centered above the traffic and best seen from the areas around lights #3 and #5.

Gather at Patriot Park near the Old Mill with your blankets and lawn chairs for a hometown festival that lasts all day long! Beginning at noon, there will lots of fun activities for kids and plenty of food. Entertainment begins at 1:30 p.m. and will feature the a Veterans Tribute, Crusin’ Memories, Brad Hudson Bank, the Pigeon Forge Community Chorus and Electric Avenue. The evening headlining performer is country music artist Craig Morgan who will entertain until the fireworks begin! At approximately 9:45 p.m., Pigeon Forge will fill the sky with a booming display synchronized to music.

If you’re including this festival in your 4th of July fun, plan to park at the Pigeon Forge Municipal Parking Lot on Teaster Lane for free parking and free shuttle rides to this not be missed 4th of July celebration.
