If you enjoy bluegrass music, arts and crafts, storytelling, antique tractors, Appalachian skills, and good food – in short, all the good things in life (and who doesn’t!) – then you should grab your lawn chair and head to the 26th Annual Townsend Fall Heritage Festival and Old Timer’s Day happening September 28-29, 2018.

This two-day festival is free for all ages! The Townsend Heritage Festival and Old Timers Day will be hosted at various locations in Townsend TN throughout the weekend. The fun can be found at the Townsend Visitors Center, Little River Railroad Museum, and Nawger Nob Craft settlement in Townsend, TN. As if all this isn’t enough, the Townsend Blue Ribbon County Fair, also part of the Townsend Days, is being held September 29th at the Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center.

How much fun it will be to introduce your family to a wide array of East Tennessee traditions! Enjoy celebrating Southern Appalachian Mountain culture and heritage. You can experience bluegrass and mountain music, clogging, storytelling, children’s activities, crafts by local artisans, and great Southern food. And you won’t want to miss the demonstrations of a variety of Appalachian skills such as blacksmithing, cornmeal making, apple butter making, and quilting.

Entrance to the festival is free, parking is $10 per day or $15 for a 2-day pass. Passes can be purchased at the parking gate or in advance online. Once you’re parked, the Heritage Center will be providing free shuttle service to get you around town including stops at Trillium Cove, the Little River Railroad Museum, and the Townsend Visitors Center.
